Instant Karma
In 1989 my partner at the time gave me a vintage Polaroid
SX-70 camera as a gift. I saw a photo spread in a magazine
that just blew me away and I wanted that camera. The photographer
used a special technique to manipulate Polaroid pictures. The finished
pictures looked like they were taken under water. Armed with my own
camera, for the next ten or so years I shot pictures everywhere I
went. At first I applied that technique to my photographs but eventually
I came to appreciate the untouched picture. The square format of
the Polaroid was key to helping me develop a sense of framing.
Here is an example of my work with a Polaroid SX-70 camera.
